Privacy Policy
Privacy policy for the Tianjin Overseas Chinese Christian Fellowship website and mobile app — we collect no personal information, and use no analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking.
Effective date: 17 August 2026
This policy explains how Tianjin Overseas Chinese Christian Fellowship (“we”, “us”) handles your information on the toccf.net website and in the TOCCF mobile app.
In short: we do not collect your personal information. The website is plain static pages. The app has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking components of any kind. The details follow.
1. What we do not do
- No registration, no sign-in. Using the website or the app never requires a name, email address, phone number, or any other identifying information.
- No analytics. Neither the website nor the app includes Google Analytics, Baidu Tongji, or any comparable service.
- No advertising, no profiling, and no selling or sharing of data with anyone.
- No cookies. The public website sets no cookies and no tracking identifiers in your browser.
- One local setting. The text-size buttons on Bible reader pages (A▾ / A▴) remember your chosen size in your own browser, so you do not have to set it again on the next chapter. It is a single number, holds nothing that identifies you, is never sent to our server, and clearing your browser data removes it.
- No third-party SDKs in the app. No advertising identifier (IDFA), no crash reporting, no social sign-in. The app requests no access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone, or photo library.
2. Website request logs
The website runs on our own server. That server records the paths of pages requested, which we use to fix problems and to understand which material is useful.
Visitor IP addresses are never written to those logs. Before anything is written to disk, the server deletes the remote_ip, client_ip, remote_port, and X-Forwarded-For fields. This is not the default behaviour — it is a deliberate configuration, because a per-request record of visitor IPs amounts to a list of who read what and when, and we would rather not hold one.
3. The mobile app (TOCCF App)
Everything the app shows — meeting details, announcements, sermons, reading plans — comes from a single public content file:
- The app anonymously requests
https://toccf.net/api/v1/feed.json(withhttps://tokyo.toccf.net/api/v1/feed.jsonas a fallback). - That request carries no account, device identifier, advertising identifier, or anything else that identifies you. Anyone opening the same URL in a browser sees exactly the same content.
- Logging for that request is handled as described in section 2 — no IP addresses recorded.
What the app stores locally on your device and never uploads:
| Stored | Where | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A copy of the downloaded content file | App Support directory | Offline reading; avoids re-downloading |
| Language preference (Chinese / English) | Device preferences | Remembers your chosen interface language |
| Reading-reminder settings | Device preferences | Fires reminders at the time you chose |
About reminders: reminders are notifications scheduled locally by your own device. We operate no push server, collect no push token, and have no way of knowing whether you have reminders switched on.
Background refresh: if the system permits background refresh, the app repeats the same public content request described above and does nothing else.
Deleting your data: removing the app deletes all of the above. Because none of it ever left your device, there is no copy on our side to delete.
In App Store privacy-label terms, this app is Data Not Collected.
4. Links that lead to third parties
Some links on the website and in the app lead to outside services we do not control. They are followed only when you tap or click them — nothing loads them in the background. Once you follow one, that service can see your IP address, and its own privacy policy applies:
- Baidu Maps — the “open in Baidu Maps” link for the meeting location. (The map thumbnail on the website is a static image we host ourselves, not an embedded Baidu frame, so no request reaches Baidu unless you click through.)
- Zoom, pCloud — where some sermon recordings are hosted.
- ticf.global — links relating to the English-language worship service.
5. Bible reading
The Chinese Union Version Bible reader on the site (/bible/) consists of complete static pages served from our own server.
This is deliberate. Linking out to a third-party Bible site would tell that site which book and chapter you opened. We do not think a record of someone’s Scripture reading belongs to a third party, so every Bible link on the site and in the app points at our own reader, and no third-party Bible site is linked anywhere.
6. The fellowship’s internal admin system
toccf.net/admin is an internal system for authorised volunteers only. It is used to maintain announcements, the service rota, prayer requests, and photographs. It is separate from the public website and the app, and visitors never encounter it.
- It stores volunteer accounts and the information fellowship ministry requires (such as names on the service rota, prayer requests, and event photographs).
- This material does not appear on the public website by default. The service rota and non-public prayer requests never reach public pages; a prayer request appears on the homepage only when it has been explicitly marked public.
- Uploaded photographs have their EXIF metadata — including GPS coordinates — stripped before the file is saved.
- If you are a member and want to see, correct, or delete a record concerning you, please tell us using the contact details below.
7. Children
We collect no personal information from anyone, children included. Where event photographs are concerned, a parent or guardian may ask us to take an image down at any time.
8. Your rights
Because we hold no personal information about visitors or app users, there is normally no record to retrieve or erase. If you believe we hold information relating to you — a member record or a photograph in the internal system, for example — you may contact us to request access, correction, or deletion.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be noted in the site’s announcements.
